Webinar on Wednesday 26th November, 1:30pm to 2:30pm
Every revival in history has been birthed in and fuelled by prayer. As the ‘quiet revival’ gathers pace, this webinar, developed jointly by the College, the Thy Kingdom Come team and the Church of England Vision and Strategy team, will draw upon extensive research into the link between prayer and church growth. It will examine how your church can best pray into this moment, discerning God’s plan for your parish and praying intentionally, specifically and effectively for your church to grow.
Speakers include:
- The Revd Dr Matthew Porter, Bishop of Bolton, Chair of the College of Archbishops’ Evangelists and a prolific author whose many books include the A-Z of Prayer and Spiritual Leadership and Leadership Formation, who will explore how to lead with prophetic imagination and pray strategically for growth, unleashing a passion for prayer in your congregation.
- Kemi Bamgbose, Project Lead for Thy Kingdom Come, a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus, and Revd Philip Johnson, who will share the findings of fascinating research correlating participation in Thy Kingdom Come and the rate at which churches grow.
- Revd Sue Cooke, a member of the College of Archbishops’ Evangelists and successor to Revd Robin Gamble as National Director of Leading your Church into Growth (LyCiG). Drawing upon practical examples from across the country, Sue will explain how to develop a prayerful culture of growth in your church and explore the foundational role of prayer in the LyCig 4Ps: Prayer, Presence, Proclamation and Persuasion.
There will also be opportunity to learn from a series of case studies of strategic prayer for growth presented by churches of varying traditions, drawn together by the Thy Kingdom Come team, and to share your church’s experiences and put questions, facilitated by Revd David Senior who is hosting the webinar.
