Becoming a Member of the College of Archbishops’ Evangelists

The college currently has over 160 members drawn from across the Church of England. We are keen to welcome new members who should have both a gift for drawing others into faith and a proven ability to encourage and equip others to exercise their evangelistic giftings.

We would like our membership to become increasing diverse in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, geography, church tradition and type of ministry, and to include members who would not normally describe their role as ‘evangelist’, but through whom God is working to draw people into faith and to release others into evangelistic ministry.

Those interested in joining the college should in the first instance be nominated by one of our current members or their diocesan bishop, following which we send out an application form. A reference is sought from two referees including, in the case of clergy, from the relevant diocesan bishop and, in the case of laity, the incumbent of the parish in which they serve. The person recommended is then invited to an online interview with two of the ambassadors.

Members are asked to observe the college code of conduct, any breaches of which are addressed through our complaints process.
